Performance-based Asset Maintenance (AM) is a contracting method whereby the Department of Transportation contracts with private contractors for the management and performance of the maintenance to a set of required standards of the transportation facility components of specific roadway activities, certain corridors and facilities or entire geographical areas.

Infrastructure Asset Maintenance

​

The Asset Maintenance (AM) Division supports the Chief of Maintenance and Operations, and District/Local Office stakeholders through coordination of the Maintenance and Operations Program, Special Structure Program, Reporting Special Initiatives and Emergency Response.

Functions

​

AM Contractors perform the following functions continuously:

• Schedule and Perform Routine Maintenance such as litter removal, mowing, sweeping, tree trimming, etc

• Schedule and Perform Building Maintenance for Highway Toll Facilities and Rest Areas such as painting, AC repair, plumbing repairs, sidewalk repairs, cleaning, etc    

• Develop and Execute plan for preventative maintenance repairs such as on bridges and roadways

• Develops and Executes plan for Emergency Repairs such as sinkholes, fallen trees or damaged caused by third parties

• Perform Scheduled Inspections of Roadway Facilities to ensure all components meet the standards such as guardrail, signs, lighting, structures, etc. 

• Responds to Emergencies on the Roadway to perform Temporary Traffic Control and alleviate Emergency Services

• Reviews corridors before and after Storms/Hurricanes to keep Roadway facilities open for public use

• Review and respond to Customer concerns and make necessary repairs as appropriate
